Full set of green traffic lights Full set of green traffic lights

It took a long time for our founder to get the combination of taste and healthiness right. But the result is Boka, which, UNIQUELY, has a full set of four green traffic lights - that’s the official way of showing that they’re super low in sugar, fat, saturates and salt.

Italian for ‘mouth’ Italian for ‘mouth’

Each lovely Caramel, Strawberry or Apple & Cinnamon Boka bar has just 1.6g of sugar and only 99 calories. That means they really ARE healthy treats (unlike certain other cereal and fruit bars, which don’t put their traffic lights on their packaging).

He called the bar ‘Boka’ (after ‘bocca’, which is Italian for ‘mouth’).

The Boka Eureka

Hidden sugar is everywhere: not just in fruit bars and sweets, but in bread, canned soups, sauces and much, much more. As well as being difficult to avoid, dodging sugar can mean you end up eating too much of something else that’s not good for you. Aargh!

Boka is unique in its four green traffic lights - meaning it’s low in everything that could be bad for you. End of stress.

So what's our secret?

We started with some great flavours - from our Italian founder, who learned to cook on his grandmother’s apron strings, so of course flavour came first! Then we took to the kitchen and began to work out a simple recipe that could keep all those delicious flavours without needing to add a whole lot of sugars, fats, salts and other bad things.

We innovated. We did a lot of trial-and-error. Many trial productions, we tweaked and re-tweaked until we had a fabulous tasting bar. We used a mixture of instinct, experience and science... until finally we had our Eureka! moment.

We hit upon a snack bar that was tasty enough for everyone to enjoy - but with four green traffic lights and only 99 calories, and which even has a quarter of the recommended daily allowance of fibre. Buon appetito!
